come one, come all. the security noobs are officially on substack.
If you or a loved one has ever entered or attempted to enter the security industry under the pretense that it is not entry-level, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
You may also be entitled to join Threatcraft – a community built for every kind of security practitioner: the aspiring, the tenured, and everyone in between. Whether you’re brand new to the field or a burnt-out staff engineer who forgot why you fell in love with this work in the first place, Threatcraft is here for you. Think of this community as the emotional support pillow that always stays cold – and, more importantly, a place where the thoughts you’ve been quietly having will finally be said out loud.
Here, we’ll break down foundational security concepts, dig into the meaning behind the latest major compromise, and explore the wide, weird middle ground that connects them. Don’t know what a SIEM is? Splendid – you will soon. Curious why a hardened security posture across your supply chain is worth the investment? BAM, we can do that too. Wondering how threat hunters actually think, or what the difference is between an analyst and an engineer, or whether you’re “technical enough” to belong here (hint, you are)? We’ve got you on all three.
Threatcraft is for the curious, the overwhelmed, the self-taught, and the seasoned alike. No prerequisites. No gatekeeping. Just security, made human.

Topics at Threatcraft will be driven by two things: genuine curiosity and community. Some posts will come straight from the things keeping me up at night – the concept I couldn’t stop pulling at, the tool I broke three times before I understood it, the career question I had to figure out the hard way. As this community grows, we’ll eventually include some fun collaborative pieces where students or members of the security community can join in on sharing their thoughts on subjects they love or are learning more about!
Threatcraft was never meant to be a monologue, and I want to ensure it’s a community readers look forward to being a part of and participating in. Once a month, there will be a topic poll – a simple “what do you want to know?” dropped into the feed for you to weigh in on. No prior knowledge required to participate, and no such thing as a question too basic to submit. If something has been sitting in the back of your mind that you haven’t had the bandwidth, the platform, or the confidence to dig into yourself, send it our way. That’s what Threatcraft is here for.
Your questions shape the content, and your curiosity drives the direction.
Now – let’s get (threat)crafty and let’s get started!
